Remove masonry materials first. Remove steel components second. Where floor arches have been removed, provide planks for workers before razing the steel framing. These planks must meet the same requirements as in the manual removal of floors.

Cranes, derricks, and other hoisting equipment must meet the Subpart N requirements.

Dismantle steel construction column length by column length, and tier by tier. Columns may be in two-story lengths.

Do not overstress any structural member being dismembered.

Continued inspections by a competent person during demolition will help detect hazards resulting from weakened walls or floors. Correct hazards by bracing, shoring, or other means.
