Sidewalk sheds or canopies should protect people from falling material around employee entrances to multistory structures. Such canopies should provide protection at least 8 feet from the face of the building, be at least 2 feet wider than the entrance opening, and be capable of sustaining a load of 150 pounds per square foot. Employee entrances should be kept clean to allow for safe entry and exit.
